Discovering Japan: An Exploration of the Country's Gentle Culture
Japan is an island country in South Asia. Japan was transformed into an Axis power by invading China in 1937 and entering World War II in 1941. But defeat in the Pacific War and two devastating atomic bombings by America forced this warlike nation to capitulate. A country which was immersed in war blood 80 years ago, which was supposed to be destroyed by two atomic bombs, how did they get to be known as the most polite and advanced nation in the present world? How did the land of samurai turn around from ashes?
If citizens of other countries travel to Japan, they will think they are living in a futuristic country. From waking up to going to sleep, Japanese daily life has the use of technology. Then they should be considered the lazy nation in the world. But they are known as the most hardworking nation in the world. According to foreigners, the Japanese do not use cell phones, talk unless necessary, and have no tea breaks at the workplace. They take only an hour's break daily. Japanese have mandatory health checks at work. Monthly and annual health check-ups are conducted for nationals and expatriates at the workplace to maintain good physical and mental health due to long working hours.
The awareness, way of thinking, and behavior of Japanese people are very much unique from others. Japan is an extremely clean country. Dust and garbage are very hard to find in this country. Visitors describe the world's most populous megacity Tokyo's streets are dust free and spotless. Cleaning workers keep the entire city clean. They are called health workers by the Japanese. The pay scale of these cleaning workers is very standard. Not only these cleaning workers but also every Japanese are very much concerned about cleaning. It's all about their mindset and education. Especially in all FIFA world cup events, this unique quality of Japanese is highlighted in the media presentation. They earn respect from all over the world for their tradition of staying behind to help clean stadiums after every game.
According to the global ranking of the Henley Passport Index, Japan is the top country in the world with the strongest passports. Japanese can travel to 192 countries without a visa just by buying a plane ticket. Does that mean that those countries have very good diplomatic relations with Japan? That is not the case, but the Japanese advanced themselves in civilization, economy, and technology. Due to this, they have been able to dominate the entire world. But despite having so much dominance, the gentleness and humility of the Japanese are worth seeing. Although known as a warlike nation in the past, Japan is currently one of the most peace-loving nations in the world.
